The misshaping by words<\/em>\u00a0blog is an online diary of the research project Misshaping by Words. Literary Caricature between Texts, Images, and Mental Models\u00a0<\/em>based at the Queen Mary University of London. This project has received funding from the European Union\u2019s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie grant agreement No. 703235. The blog will publish news, work-in-progress activities, partial results, spin-off materials, and all the updates concerning the development of the research.<\/p>\n

My name is Paolo Gervasi, I am the editor of the blog and the coordinator\u00a0of the research project, supervised by Colin Jones, Professor of History at the Queen Mary University of London. For the past three years, I have\u00a0been Research Fellow at the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>CTL<\/a> (<\/span><\/span>Center for the Data Processing of Texts and Images in Literary Tradition \u2013 Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa), where I worked on the ERC project\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Looking<\/span> at<\/span> Words<\/span> Through<\/span> Images<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/a>, coordinated by Professor Lina Bolzoni.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>I obtained my Ph.D. at the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Scuola Normale Superiore defending a thesis on the literary essay and the forms of 20th Century literary criticism<\/span><\/span>. My main\u00a0research interests concern the history of literary criticism in relation with publishing and book history; relationships between the media system and literary forms; Cognitive poetics and the study\u00a0of literature through the insights of\u00a0mind sciences; digital humanities, with a particular focus on\u00a0the representation of the overlapping of visual and literary cultures. I collaborate with online journals and magazines<\/a><\/span><\/span>, mainly writing about the cultural impact of neurosciences<\/span><\/span>.
