Il modello\u00a0editoriale dell&#8217;<em>Orlando<\/em>\u00a0<em>Furioso\u00a0<\/em>dal libro illustrato al web<\/a>, edited by Lina Bolzoni and published by Donzelli.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-372\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.history.qmul.ac.uk\/litcaricature\/files\/2017\/12\/Ariosto_cop-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1896\" height=\"2551\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.history.qmul.ac.uk\/litcaricature\/files\/2017\/12\/Ariosto_cop-1.jpg 1896w, https:\/\/blogs.history.qmul.ac.uk\/litcaricature\/files\/2017\/12\/Ariosto_cop-1-223x300.jpg 223w, https:\/\/blogs.history.qmul.ac.uk\/litcaricature\/files\/2017\/12\/Ariosto_cop-1-768x1033.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.history.qmul.ac.uk\/litcaricature\/files\/2017\/12\/Ariosto_cop-1-761x1024.jpg 761w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1896px) 100vw, 1896px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><i>Galassia Ariosto\u00a0<\/i>is more than a book: it is the tip of the iceberg of the five-years project\u00a0<em>Looking at Words through Images <\/em>run at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctl.sns.it\/\">CTL &#8211;\u00a0Centre for Data Processing of Texts and Images in the Literary Tradition,<\/a> Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa &#8211; and dedicated to the editorial galaxy grown during the Sixteenth century around the international success of Ludovico Ariosto&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Orlando Furioso. <\/em>Particularly, the project addressed the spreading of illustrated books and the network of relations this editorial format established between texts and images.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The CTL&#8217;s research group, coordinated by professor Lina Bolzoni, explored this galaxy on many levels and reproduced and interpreted it through an outstanding digital collection: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.galassiaariosto.sns.it\/\">Galassia Ariosto. Un archivio digitale\u00a0dei poemi narrativi\u00a0illustrati tra\u00a0Cinque e Seicento.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The book is a synecdoche\u00a0of\u00a0the work done for the\u00a0project and the construction of the digital collection. The essays collected in the book show how relevant the materials available on the website are for wide-ranging literary, figurative and historical topics. The proposed case-studies are examples of how these materials can be studied, analysed, and related to other cultural objects and wider critical issues.<\/p>\n<p>In the book, I published an essay titled <em>Signa imperii. Immagini della\u00a0sovranit\u00e0 nelle illustrazioni della\u00a0Liberata<\/em>, in which I look at the iconography of sovereignty conveyed by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.galassiaariosto.sns.it\/opere\/gerusalemme-liberata\">illustrated editions of Torquato Tasso&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Gerusalemme Liberata<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m immensely happy to talk about the release of the book Galassia Ariosto.
