{"id":73,"date":"2013-11-13T09:37:45","date_gmt":"2013-11-13T09:37:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.history.qmul.ac.uk\/musicandsound\/?p=73"},"modified":"2024-10-02T08:35:16","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T08:35:16","slug":"liturgy-in-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.history.qmul.ac.uk\/musicandsound\/2013\/11\/13\/liturgy-in-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Liturgy in History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A full-day workshop exploring liturgy in practice in the medieval and early-modern periods.<\/p>\n<p>When: <strong>Tuesday 19th November, 9:30 \u2013 17:00 (lunch provided)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Where: <strong><em>Old Library, Garrod Building,<\/em> Queen Mary Whitechapel Campus<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Three speakers \u2013 Professor <strong>Nils Holger Petersen<\/strong> (University of Copenhagen), Professor <strong>Emma Dillon<\/strong> (King\u2019s College London) and Dr <strong>Beth<\/strong> <strong>Williamson<\/strong> (University of Bristol) \u2013 will guide participants through the structure and formulae of liturgical sources. The musical, visual, architectural and performative aspects of the liturgy will all be carefully considered and approaches to liturgy re-interrogated. The presentations will be followed by a roundtable discussion with Professor <strong>Miri Rubin<\/strong> (QMUL) and Professor <strong>Sara Lipton<\/strong> (SUNY).
